My state is 28 and down -6.5% which is a little surprising given the amount of new Breweries opening around our city. However, I suppose craft spirits is a big thing too now.

U tah. but as my coworker pointed out about 45% of the population has a no drinking policy so that means the 30-40% that actually follow it will have a huge effect on the per capita. i.e. the drinkers are far and away making up for the non-drinkers in the state if its still 18.7 gallons per capita

Alcohol consumption on the reservations is also very high here which probably plays a significant role as to where SD falls on the list.

What I’m seeing here is that most states with actual winters and less people drink a lot more per person . Also I’ll bet that if this was wine, California would “win” the shit out of this thing . Which I don’t understand, but more beer for me, so it’s fine.

I wonder if there’s any correlation between a state’s alcohol consumption and its drunk driver stats. We might even be able to extrapolate which states tend to have more responsible drinkers.
FWIW, North Dakota ranks in at #3 on the list above, and comes in at #2 for DUIs according to this page .

My current home state, Missouri, is surprisingly mid-pack. I live just down the street from the big, main Budweiser brewery, and it seems that every other building around here is named for Anheuser and/or Busch. With all of these AB products flooding the market, well, I’d cut back on beer consumption as well.
But seriously, STL is a beer town, and we do have a number of great microbreweries all over the region . Lots and lots of choice, sometimes I dare say too many choices.

Apparently it’s grapes (?) which have been smushed by farmer feet, then get put into an old-timey barrel for awhile, and eventually get put in a corked fancy bottle where it also has to sit for awhile, which makes it play “notes” on your “palate”. The glasses are also very easy to break and not very big . Seems fishy.
